Royal Selangor is collaborating with Nini Marini, a Malaysian multidisciplinary artist and creative entrepreneur, to celebrate art and craftsmanship this Aidilfitri. This entails bringing you beautiful Hari Raya gifts wrapped in Furoshiki - the art of wrapping gifts using patterned, decorative fabric.
The vibrantly coloured wrapper cloth comes in two elegant floral designs: Batik and Starburst - both inspired by Malaysian flora.
The Batik piece pays homage to Malaysian batik design, inspired by local plants. The colours on Batik are a departure from Marini’s usual rainbow palette. On the other hand, Starburst was created in a bid to create a true floral collection based on Malaysian flowers. Exploring chalky colours, Marini’s Starburst is an interpretation of a forest tree in bloom, bringing vibrance to any space.
“I am so honoured and excited with my partnership with Royal Selangor. It is a dream to be able to say that my art is being used to wrap beautiful pewter and I cannot wait to see what everyone thinks of it!” she said.

About Nini Marini
Nini Marini, Artist & Creative Entrepreneur
Nini Marini is an artist from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia who makes vibrant and expressive art inspired by nature & life observations. She enjoys painting large illustrative acrylic pieces on canvas and then manipulating them to be translated onto different surfaces or products. However, this is just one of her many approaches to making art.
Marini believes that art should be accessible to everyone and to do this it should take many forms. Some of her creative explorations have included metal installations, murals, pattern making, video and even creating with artificial intelligence. Art brings much joy to Marini and it gives her pleasure to know that her work resonates with others too. “Artists need those who have art-eyes”.
