Siva, our in-house technician, joined Royal Selangor in 1999 and has been with the company for more than 20 years. He has not always been a technician.

“I started with the company’s wood factory in a building we call F3, polishing wood. After a few years I transferred to the Facilities & Administration department to work as a despatch clerk. During that time, I also assisted the technician then to do electrical work. Azman, my supervisor encouraged me to take a course so I could upgrade my career and become a professional technician. So, I took a course at The German Institute. I attended classes on 3 weekdays after work, and weekends. I was 39 when I started and finished at the age of 42.

Today I feel very happy and accomplished. I like working here and stayed on because the company has helped me a lot. And my colleagues have always been very encouraging and supportive, they are like family to me. I have become more confident with myself and I am able to overcome challenges better. Most importantly, I am able to provide more for my family.

Royal Selangor is celebrating its 135th anniversary this year and as an employee, I feel very proud.”
