A gold torc would have identified its wearer as an individual of rank in the Iron Age. A rigid neck ring, open at the front, made as solid or from multiple strands twisted together, they constitute some of the finest examples of Celtic art.
Ornamentation on the cufflinks is an abstraction of the bud and crescent motif on a gold torc terminal from 150 BCE – 50 BCE Britain.
